Steam Cleaning Magic
Dallas, TX – Steam cleaners have been around for a long time and have matured into a variety of cleaning appliances in recent years. In years past a steam cleaner was normally used for cleaning carpets and hard floors, and was mostly used by a professional cleaning service. The reason for this was that up until fairly recently, steam cleaning appliances were expensive and a needed a little care to be used.
Today steam is used in a wide variety of cleaning appliances and is available from most of the major appliance vendors. You can buy several different carpet cleaners that use steam and some of them will also do hard floors like wood and linoleum as well. There is also a group of handheld steam cleaners that can be used on smaller areas like furniture and upholstery to clean them. Finally, there is another class of appliance that is handheld and uses steam for cleaning surfaces like countertops and tile. This new group of appliances really gives the consumer a choice of how they clean using steam.
The basis for steam cleaning stems from the fact that when water is heated to the point of vaporizing into steam, it is hot enough to kill bacteria and germs on any surface. Also, the dirt and grease that adhere to a surface do this because they have adhesive qualities. Steam will dissolve these adhesives and the dirt and grime can easily be wiped away. A steam cleaner is a very simple appliance and basically consists of a water reservoir that is filled with clean water, a heating coil to heat the water and create the steam and a hose and nozzle to deliver this steam to the surface you are trying to clean. Some of the models available also offer special attachments to help scrub the surface, or concentrate the steam to help remove a particularly stubborn spot.
For steam cleaning carpet cleaners, the principle is the same. There is a heating element that heats the cleaning solution to the point of steam and then delivers this to the carpet through a nozzle on the appliance. This carpet cleaner also has a vacuum integrated into the appliance to suction up the wet cleaning solution after it has been infused into the carpet and removes the dirt and grime along with it. Also, many of these steam cleaning appliances use a specially formulated solution that is mixed with the water being applied to help loosen dirt and help the carpet dry more quickly. This is really important when cleaning carpet and fabrics so you don’t develop problems with mold and mildew.
Many of these carpet steam cleaners can also be used on other surfaces like wooden floors and tile. The principles the same and the results can be amazing compared to a standard floor cleaning. The only difference between cleaning a carpet and a hard floor is that the solution added to the water is different and may be a little more foaming for the hard floors to help remove grit and grime.
The other really nice thing about using one of these steam cleaning solutions is that they don’t leave behind any film or chemicals. The steam cleaning will actually remove many of the chemicals left from previous cleanings and will leave your carpet and floors looking and smelling great.
