Dallas, TX – From the late 1980’s until the late 90’s offset printing was still capturing the lions’ share of the printing revenues. The emergence of digital printing was at that point largely ignored and not considered a real threat until the technologies of desk top publishing, computerized graphic design, the latest Intel processors and the decline in the cost of high quality computers hit the market full steam. These innovations brought about a whirlwind of improvements to the digital printing industry from top to bottom. With each new improvement to the digital printing technology, a negative affect was felt in the offset printing industry.

What’s ahead for offset printing?

Offset printing is not going to just fall off the edge anytime soon. But for the foreseeable future and as long as printed material is necessary, and it always will be, the paying customer will continue to have choices when deciding which technology offers the best solution for their printing needs. Obviously cost to produce coupled with quality and the ability to quickly deliver product to the market will be tested more as we move forward in the digital printing age.

The growth of digital printing has been nothing less than phenomenal since the turn of the 21st century. But setting that aside, other factors have lent themselves to the popularity of digital printing.

1. In the offset printing industry, toxic solvents must be used for a variety of reasons. The use of isopropyl alcohol is used to basically make water “wetter” this helps maintain the constant separation of inks from bleeding outside the allowable printing image on the printing plate. Anyone that has ever run offset presses will easily smell the fumes as they are near the print towers, adding ink or making adjustments to ink flow. In the case of digital printing equipment, ink is contained and solvents are not required. With offset printing presses, gloves must be worn as ink build up from paper stock residue must be removed using solvents called blanket wash. Depending on the quality of stock, there are occasions where a blanket will require cleaning every 15-20 minutes. This solvent is toxic to humans and must be handled with care as it is flammable. Again, no toxic chemicals are required with digital printing equipment because there are no blankets to squeeze a printed impression onto.

2. Digital printing turns its efficient eye toward “being green” but really it’s just natural. The very nature of digital printing is to save waste in all areas. Print on demand has resolved the problems of overcrowded storage facilities. In the past, printed materials and outdated inventory were taken to dumpsites. Paper waste and used toxic chemicals had to be properly disposed of. Today, more than ever, we are to be responsible and diligent in our efforts to keep the environment clean, thereby making the world a safer place to live.

Offset printing is under the gun and entrapped in an industrial environment that requires old fashioned manufacturing methods to survive. However it will continue to survive for decades, but will eventually succumb to newer and greater technologies born out of the digital printing age.

Dallas, TX – Do you have a bit of a green thumb? Do you spend a good portion of the spring and the summer tending to your vegetable plot or your flower garden, large or small, looking forward to the fall when all of your hard work will be rewarded through a nice harvest or a colorful canopy before winter takes over? Whether you have a large corn field or a small tomato garden, you know that rodents can cause huge problems year round, and the worst time is in the fall.

Fall time is a busy time for all members of the rodent family, as they begin putting on fat to see them through the long winter months. A rabbitsize rodent can wreak heavy destruction on a garden plot at this time, as their natural abilities to sense a full belly are temporarily turned off thanks to evolution.

All rodents are a potential threat to your garden during this time, although of most concern will be the hibernators, including the gopher. Rodenticides may prove effective in the short term, but most of the time these savvy little beasts and other burrowing rodents seem to have a knack for avoiding the danger. We will get to a solution for the problem in a second, but first let’s take a quick look at which types of small animal may haunt your green space as the fruits of your labor start to ripen.

Gophers: We’ve already touched on gophers, and these little guys are a huge problem for any gardener. They are almost impossible to catch for the layman, and their underground attacks hit the harvest where you can’t even see it!

Rabbits: Nocturnal and quick, any rabbitsize rodent can demolish a garden’s harvest in just a couple of nights. What’s worse, they breed like, well, rabbits, which means where you see one, there may be twenty or more!

Mice: Mice aren’t as noticeable as the more destructive rodents, but rest assured that they will take advantage of the easy meals your garden provides!

One of the biggest problems with all three of these garden pests is that they tend to come out at night, under the cover of darkness. That means unless you know how to train an owl, rodent control can be a real problem.

Over the years, various home grown techniques have developed for dealing with different types of rodents. People use everything from live dogs to cat litter as rodent repellant, hoping to scare the little thieves off.
Unfortunately, even when these techniques do work, they rarely do so in the long term. This family of nibblers is persistent and adaptable, and mice, rats, gophers, and rabbits will all find out how to beat folksy remedies.

The only real long term solution for the gardener wishing to keep a crop intact for the family’s own consumption is to turn to commercial pest control specialists. Not only are these professionals familiar with the way rodents work, they can put a long term solution in place. This solution will protect your crop for the season, and in the years to comes as well.

Dallas, TX -Rodent problems are often associated with rural living, in areas where wide open spaces offer ideal natural breeding grounds for this family of prolific animals. It’s true you can find a lot of rodents in many varieties in the country side. The woods are filled with squirrels and chipmunks, mice and rats prowl the fields, even bodies of water can contain large populations of beaver and muskrat.

However, the family rodentia is not limited to rural life alone. On the contrary, the family contains the two most numerous species of animal on the planet, after humans. Those are mice and rats, which can be found wherever humans are.

You might think that proximity signals a good relationship, but this is rarely the case. Any type of rodent can cause a major problem in any household. Aside from the natural revulsion many feel when they see a rabbitlike rodent poking around in their basement, rodents can do a lot of damage to property.

All nibblers love to build nests, as all types of rodents feel the need to gnaw. Chewing material into pieces accomplishes several different purposes for these animals. First of all, it helps file down their teeth. Members of the rodentia family are readily identified by their front teeth, which are much larger than the others. All types of rodent teeth grow constantly throughout their lives, and the animals must bite hard material all the time to keep from choking.

That presents the first problem with any nest in your home; those chewers will bite just about anything they can reach. Wiring, drywall, wall studs, and insulation are all tempting to chew. They also make great materials for the nests!

Any rodent loves to find a safe and cozy place to snug up, particularly during the winter. Squirrels and chipmunks will sleep through the whole season, while more active animals like mice and rats just sleep longer than usual. All will look for nooks and crannies on your property to make their homes, presenting problem number two, which is the difficulty in finding their nests.

Problem number three comes with the mess these nests can create. All that chewed material gets stored up and over time can become one huge, rotting organic mass. The critters mate, give birth, and even die sometimes in these nests, and it all adds up to a lot of mess and smell. Even squirrels, which we normally don’t consider to be pests, can really create a mess in a shed, garage, even a chimney or an untended cabin in the woods!

So, how to deal with these small animals which like to make their homes in ours? Well, the best way is through the use of a professional pest control company. Those who have been dealing with rodents for a living understand which types of rodenticide work best while also causing the least potential for harm to the home. They also tend to know where to look for the pesky critters and how to prevent further problems.

Avoid the huge problem that rodent nests can become by contacting a pest control specialist as soon as you detect a problem. Whether it’s mice, rats, squirrels, or some other type of rodent, the last thing you need is to play hotel to a large population!

Dallas, TX – If you go over to a big search engine and look for pictures of rodenttype animals, your query will yield thousands of results. The rodentia family is one of the largest of the mammal class, with hundreds of different species found all over the world.

Not only are there a lot of different kinds of rodents, there are more individuals in this family than in any other. After humans, mice and rats are the most populous species on the planet (what that says about us is up for interpretation). In fact, wherever humans can be found, so can mice and rats. Both species have been known to thrive in what we might consider impossible circumstances, from the driest deserts to the fierce winters of Antarctica.

Part of the reason for the success of rodents is their incredible ability to breed. Almost all members of the family can produce massive litters several times a year, and can start breeding at a very young age. This success is also a part of the reason why these little animals and humans have such problems when they run into each other; they can really do a number on our food supplies!

Nowhere is this more evident than around the home. A large population of mice will get into everything they can in a house, from flour bags to pet food. Rats are the same way; in fact, nothing short of metal boxes can stop these dedicated little nibblers once they get locked onto a food source!

Rodents getting into food supplies can lead to other problems within the house as well, namely the spread of disease. While we have all heard stories of the bubonic plague, that is a health scare of the past. Still, the most common members of the rodent family are known to spread sicknesses whose damage ranges from rashes to death, carried in bites, feces, and lice. The different diseases that rodenttype animals can carry are another reason to be concerned if there is a population in your home.

The third big problem with rodentia in the house is that they can be really hard to get rid of. Many people support the idea of natural pest control. Chipmunks and other, “wilder” rodents will stay away from a house with a dog or cat, or even signs of a predator. However, rats and mice have grown used to such animals as they have lived with us, and require more cunning tactics if they are to be eliminated.

Even homemade rodent bait stations may not prevail amongst the members of the rodentia family which have evolved along with humans. They tend to be quite smart and learn to evade these traps once they are detected. When the traps do work, perhaps with bait loaded with poison, a new problem develops. Just how are you supposed to go about removing rodents from behind walls, once they have died? The smell of just one dead nibbler can be overwhelming in a home, let alone a whole colony of corpses.

In order to properly go about the extermination of rodents, the services of a professional are often required. Pest control companies are savvy to the ways of these little critters, and can remove household problems with minimal impact on everyday life. Moreover, they do so in such a way that the problems arising from rodent populations may never come up again.

Dallas, TX – Since people first built houses, those structures have sheltered more than people. It seems that wherever we go, and whatever type of home we build, there are a host of creatures that like to live along side us. These include creepy crawly insects and the less creepy, but just as crawly, members of the rodentia family.

Mice and rats are the most commonly seen rodent pests around the house, although people do run into problems with squirrels, chipmunks, marmots, and even muskrats and beavers. The problems associated with different types of rodents are varied, but in almost all cases people want to be rid of these animals as quickly as completely as possible.

To this end, a number of methods are used to carry out extermination. Rodents can be very adaptable, though, and as we shall see, most of these approaches do not work for long.

The most commonly used solutions to a rodent problem are traps. We have all seen mouse and rat traps, barbaric, brutal, and efficient in their purpose. This solution poses several problems. First of all, there is the unpleasantness associated with removing the dead body from the trap. Secondly, rats and mice are both communal and highly intelligent. One, two, or more of the stupider (or braver) animals may be caught, but there are guaranteed to be more. Those that survive will be smart enough to evade traps in the future.

A second method frequently employed is the use of rodent bait traps. These traps entice rodentia family members with food, and then close on them live or let them escape after eating the bait, which is laced with rodent poison. In the case of the poison, however, home owners are left with the task of removing rodents from behind walls, often after the animals have died. It’s a difficult task that can also be costly.

One home remedy for these pests which can be effective is the use of an animal which is a natural predator of rodents, such as a cat or a dog. However, even these helpers may fail if the population is too large; or your pet may even refuse to catch the critters at all (think Garfield!).

The problem with almost all home rodent reduction remedies is that they only work up to a certain point. After that, they cease to become effective and they may even cause more trouble than the animals themselves, as is the case with rodent poison.

The most effective way of dealing with a rodentia problem is through the services of someone who makes a living in mice and rat extermination. Rodents are predictable, and those who run pest control services are trained in their ways. They can assess the population, suggest solutions, and even come up with advice on future rodent prevention strategies.

No matter what species of rodent you are dealing with, consult a pest control professional to come up with the right solution. Home remedies are never all they are cracked up to be; they either just don’t work or don’t get the job done completely.

Dallas, TX – It was ten o’clock in the morning, and Leslie Fielding was beginning to wonder why her daughter had not yet made an appearance. The rambunctious four year old would usually have been running around since six o’clock, and what at first had been a welcome break was starting to concern her mother.

Leslie’s worry was increased exponentially when wailing broke out from Emily’s room upstairs. She ran up to ask what was wrong. Emily replied that she couldn’t move her legs. After checking several times to make sure this was true, Leslie phoned the paramedics. In the emergency room, it was found that Emily had received tickbite, and was exhibiting one of the earlier signs of Lyme disease.

Tick bites are the North American equivalent of mosquito bites in Africa. While the majority of tick bites don’t result in serious problems, there are some serious dangers. They include the aforementioned Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and encephalitis as well as the less serious deer tick bite symptoms such as rash and swelling.

As Emily’s story indicates, almost anyone is at risk for tickbite. Emily stayed close to her house in a suburban neighborhood, but that suburb was surrounded by forest. In addition, the family owned a dog which frequently took walks with its owner in those woods. A tick could have hitched a ride on the dog and ended up biting Emily.

Several species of disease carrying ticks are found in the United States, and unless there is a good pest control prevention plan in place, almost anyone is at risk for tickbite.

Adults can usually detect tickbite long before the more serious of deer tick bite symptoms begin to manifest themselves. Those who are out in the woods should examine themselves carefully when they arrive home, particularly in areas covered by hair.

Children are trickier, because they may not know they have been bitten until they begin to exhibit tick bite symptoms. Parents need to vigilantly check their kids when they come into the house, unless of course the local pest control companies have been used to eradicate ticks from the area.

Humans are not the only creatures at risk of complications arising from tickbite. Tick bites on dogs can be just as serious, and as with children they can be a lot harder to detect. If you take your dog out on walks in less developed, wild areas, you need to be sure to comb him thoroughly once you get home. Even parks and other groomed locations may be the home of dog ticks, and you can’t be too careful. Like children, animals won’t be able to tell you they have been bitten by a tick and the soonest you will know are when the tick bite symptoms begin to be seen.

The best way to prevent tickbite in the groups most at risk is through the prevention of ticks. Only professionals are qualified to carry out such an intricate plan, so make sure your city has a tick prevention plan in place!

Dallas, TX – Do you live in an area that is near to a greenbelt? Well, that greenbelt could well be the perfect place to get a tickbite. Ticks in North America are the equivalent of mosquitoes in Africa; their bites are irritating at best, and at worst may result in serious disease and even death. We take a look at some of those diseases in another article, but for now let’s take a look at exactly what a tick is.

All ticks belong to the arachnid family, which is the same family as the spider is found in. In fact, it can be hard to determine whether that creepy thing on you was a tick or a spider, because they look an awful lot alike.

In general, though, ticks are quite a bit smaller than spiders. The more aggressive and dangerous of the ticks, though, tend to have very small and hard bodies, unlike that of a spider. That means that if you notice the it long before that deer tick bites you, you may have a hard time killing it!

In North America, there are a few different species of ticks which humans need to be concerned about. These are the dog tick, the deer tick, and the Western black legged tick. All three of these species carry diseases which can be harmful to humans, with the black legged tick in particular being responsible for many deaths.

The deer tick is the second most common tick in the country, and it is found in the east. Deer tick bites are commonly found where there are large populations of white tailed deer, as is the case in almost all eastern states. While the ticks will get blood from humans when they can (often resulting in painful tick bite symptoms), deer are their main hosts. That’s why they are more of a threat to people who spend time in the woods than they are to the house bound.

The Western black legged tick, as the name indicates, is found in the Western part of North America. It is known to carry two different deadly diseases associated with tick bites, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Lyme disease. This species of tick prefers the blood of livestock such as cows, but will take advantage of a human host when it can. Like the deer tick bite, the bite of this tick will result, at the least, in a tick bite rash.

Finally, the dog tick is both the most common and the best known of the tick family here in the United States. If you have a dog then you have to be worried about tick bites, both on humans and on dogs. While they don’t carry Lyme disease, dog tick bites can carry the deadly Rocky Mountain spotted fever.

Ticks and tick bites are a common occurrence throughout the country. The only way to prevent deer tick bite, puss filled bump that it may become, is through vigilance and proper pest management.

Most people have at least a vague idea that receiving a deer tick bite is not the most pleasant of experiences. At the very least, the thought of tick bites on humans gives you the heebie-jeebies. You don’t want an eight legged, tiny creature even crawling on you, let alone feeding from you!

The reality is, though, that tick bites can be a lot more than just gross. They can also be very dangerous! When a tick bites into the flesh of a person, the exchange does not go just one way. Not only is that deer tick bite taking some blood out of you, it is also transferring poison and sometimes diseases into you as well.

What kind of disease is in a tick bite, you might ask. They are such little creatures, how harmful can they really be?

The answer is, plenty harmful, and your risk of getting sick (and sometimes extremely sick) depends on where you live and the species of tick which bit you. Let’s take a look at some of the most frequently identified diseases known to be transferred by tick bites that blister up when that tick is done.

Lyme Disease

Species of hard ticks carry Lyme Disease, the most common infection resulting from a bite. If you look at pictures of tick bites, you would hardly believe that just one of these little bumps could result in such a serious disease, but it’s true.

Deer tick bite symptoms which may indicate a transfer of Lyme disease may include a lack of energy, fever, headache, and depression. A common tick bite rash will often be seen in the area of the bite; it will appear circular around the area.

Lyme disease is serious because if it is left untreated, it may lead to some severe damage of the central nervous system. The disease is caused by both black legged tick bites and deer tick bites.

Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever

This fever is the worst of any spread by tick bites, being the most deadly. Pictures of tick bites in patients who have been diagnosed with this disease are horrifying, because the bite itself pales to the rash which occurs on the patient. The disease is known to become serious rapidly, after initial tick bite symptoms which include fever and headaches.

Rocky Mountain spotted fever is spread through dog tick bites and deer tick bites.

Preventing Ticks

Obviously, ticks are a serious problem. North American ticks are common in many areas of the United States, and those who live in areas close to the bush may find themselves with tick problems. As ticks love a variety of different hosts, including dogs and deer, they can be very hard to keep away from humans without the use of a professional pest controller.

There are many different methods of reducing the number of ticks in your yard and in your area. Because this dangerous pest is so small, preventing tickbite means being able to control the number of ticks in an area. Call your local pest control company today to keep these disease carrying arachnids away from you and your family!

Dallas, TX – Do you spend a lot of time outside? Do you own a dog? In either case, you may be at risk for tickbite, no matter where you live in the United States. Tick bites are serious, because some deer tick bite symptoms include paralysis. Tick bites are also known to spread disease. If you have been bitten by a tick, you need to deal with the bite immediately, to prevent health problems. That can be a problem, though, if you don’t know how to identify a tick bite.

In a best case scenario, you will know that you have tickbite because the tick will still be on you, feasting on your blood. If that’s the case, you need to get it off of you.

This is not always easy to do. Ticks are very small, and the part the tick bites you with is even smaller. You need to remove the entire tick, including the small parts of its mouth which have clamped down on your skin. That means taking a pair of tweezers and pulling the tick out slowly, by the head. You need to save the tick so that you can have someone identify it for you; some ticks are harmless while in some cases a deer tick bite behind knee and severe knee pain may indicate a serious problem.

Once you have the tick out, you need to do a bit of first aid in order to avoid tick bite infection. Wash the site with soapy water, and apply some antibiotic ointment to the area. Make sure to keep an eye on the spot where the tick bit you, in case it is one of the types of tick bites that blister, or in case any other type of deer tick bite symptoms manifest themselves.

A lot of the time, when tickbite occurs, people don’t even realize they have been bitten. It could happen while you are hiking or asleep, you just don’t feel it when that tick bites. In this case, you will need to keep an eye on any unusual reactions which could indicate deer tick bite symptoms.

Particularly, you should be worried about localized skin blemishes. Pictures of tick bites which have become infected show a variety of different skin irritations. Tick bites on humans may be followed by blisters, and a tick bite infection is almost always indicated first by a rash.

Those are the indications of a tick bit infection on the skin; other tick bite symptoms can be much serious. They range from nausea to paralysis, depending on when the tickbite was inflicted. These serious deer tick bite symptoms indicate that a victim has contracted one of the more serious of the diseases carried by tick bites, and a doctor should be immediately consulted.

Serious tick bite diseases are always a threat when tickbite has occurred. They aren’t just a threat to humans, either; tick bites on dogs may result in deadly sickness as well. The only way to be sure to prevent these diseases is to rid the area of any tick population!

Dallas, TX – One of the latest trends when it comes to your wedding reception is to have a coffee and dessert reception, rather than a full meal. If you have your wedding reception during the afternoon between lunch and dinner, or in the evening after dinner, it is entirely appropriate to serve coffee and dessert.

If you do choose to have a coffee and dessert reception, it is possible you can save some money on your wedding catering. Still, just because you’re saving a few dollars doesn’t mean you shouldn’t provide some nice choices for your guests. Sweet treats are a versatile and tasty way to satisfy your reception guests.

A dessert buffet table should nicely complement your wedding cake. Having your wedding caterer provide a dessert buffet table lets your guests mingle while consuming tasty goodies that satisfy their sweet tooth. These deserts are often more enjoyable and more memorable than a full service meal, and will leave your guests with a smile on their face.

You should offer a wide array of choices on your dessert table. You can have simple desserts, such as chocolate mousse cups, and you can have more complex and elegant desserts such as petit fours, mini cheesecakes or fruit tarts. If your wedding has a theme, you can choose desserts that match the theme of your wedding. Choose desserts with colors that match your wedding colors, for example.

One popular element to have catered at your dessert wedding reception is a chocolate fountain. The chocolate fountain can be surrounded by any number of dipping items, such as fresh fruits, biscotti and other items. You might even consider several chocolate fountains with different types of chocolate, from dark chocolate to semi-sweet to milk chocolate.

At your dessert reception, you can place a cookie tray at each of your tables, as well. These trays may include a variety of types of cookies, reflecting your personal tastes or your family and ethnic background or traditions.

Even if you do serve a full meal, you may still consider offering a dessert buffet table. While it was once commonplace to offer a couple of dessert choices along with cake, many couples are choosing to offer more desserts. In some cases, this may allow you to offer a smaller wedding cake, and can help to shave some of the cost off of your cake if you’re trying to work within a budget. This also allows choices for your guests who may not particular be fond of cake.

Other wonderful ideas for your wedding dessert table include things like chocolate cheesecake, gateau, fresh fruits, soufflés, trifle, fresh fruit flan, pavlova, almond slices, profiteroles stack and even cupcakes.

Your wedding caterer should be able to provide you with a variety of desserts to choose from. She may also be able to offer ideas about specific desserts to complement your wedding’s theme, and may be able to help you figure out exactly what desserts would be best for your particular situation. She may also have some ideas about how to make the dessert service more fun and interesting, and therefore more memorable for your wedding reception guests.
